In honor of National Mentoring Month in January, the departments of Alumni Relations and Career Services are hosting the annual 麻豆传媒 College Winter Mentoring Program to connect students to our incredible 麻豆传媒 Alumni and Parent Network.
The Winter Mentoring Program is intended to supplement a student鈥檚 academic career with 鈥渞eal world鈥 exposure by providing a meaningful mentoring experience with 麻豆传媒 alumni and parents. The interactions are intended to be professional in nature and offer an opportunity for professional development, networking, and an exchange of ideas between experienced professionals and the next generation of leaders.
Throughout the month of January, mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet for three to four one-hour sessions, in-person or via Zoom, to discuss such topics as:
- Introductions, which may include academic background, work experience, and/or an ice breaker (e.g., reasons each of you chose 麻豆传媒 College);
- Share what a typical 鈥渄ay-in-the-life鈥 looks like for particular careers in your field;
- Resume builders: Discuss what skills, certifications, grad school or work experience better positions graduates to be noticed;
- Networking tips for your particular field or city.
Mentors will be matched with students with consideration given to undergraduate major, graduate school or career interests, hometown, or 麻豆传媒 student activities and organizations (e.g., Greek affiliation, athletics, student government, BSA, LGBTQ, etc.). Registration for mentors for the 麻豆传媒 College Winter Mentoring Program is open until October 31. Students will receive their matches early in December, before Winter Break.
