Mission
Health Professions Advising at Â鶹´«Ã½ College serves as a clearinghouse for all things pre-health. We serve all pre-health students, beginning with admission to Â鶹´«Ã½ and extending beyond graduation, by creating an environment of support and opportunity through advising, programming, and campus and Â鶹´«Ã½ partnerships. HPA works diligently to achieve the following objectives:
- Promote student exploration of healthcare careers and assist students in understanding how to achieve educational and career goals related to health professions.
- Provide students with opportunities to engage in clinical work, service, and research.
- Encourage self-reflection on academic and extracurricular experiences and assist students in identifying and discussing how those experiences have prepared them for a career of service in healthcare.
Our Pre-Health students benefit from studying closely with mentors and peers in small classes and through off-campus opportunities at world class institutions such as Baptist Memorial Health Care, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and many others.
Pre-health students may choose any major to complement prerequisite classes in the sciences. Our liberal arts program allows for the development of well-rounded students, which sets Â鶹´«Ã½ graduates apart as professional school applicants and in their careers.
The Health Professions Advising office is available to provide students with guidance and support as they prepare for a career in healthcare. We encourage you to explore our site and contact us with any questions.
Our HPA team is committed to partnering with students as they pursue admission to a professional school leading to a career in healthcare. This commitment starts with special programming in the first days that a student is on campus and continues beyond graduation.
Â鶹´«Ã½ College provides current students with opportunities in fellowships, internships and research with multiple Â鶹´«Ã½ partners including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Methodist Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and others.
Â鶹´«Ã½ students have an exceptional reputation for gaining admission to top programs around the country. Our students translate research in the Memphis Â鶹´«Ã½ to go on to do groundbreaking work throughout their careers.
